- This study investigates the adsorption of As(III) on β-cyclodextrin modified hydrous fer-ric oxide (HCC).The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity is 66.96 ± 9.16 (mg As/g of HCC) at 303 K. The high adsorption efficiency of the adsorbent is due to the modification of Hydrous Ferric Oxide (HFO) surface by β-cyclodextrin which provides ample—OH groups which in turn increase As(III) adsorption on HCC compared to HFO. The adsorbent can be used for a wide pH range(3–8)and sponta-neous in nature which suggest wide applicability of the adsorbent. ThusHCC is found to be more efficient adsorbent than HFO.
