  • All-fiber high-flow microfluidic dye laser
  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : Optical Society of America (OSA). - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • An all-fiber dye laser is demonstrated. The dye solution is kept under flow, allowing for high repetition rate pumping. Threshold average pump power of 2.15 mW and conversion slope efficiency of ~8.5% are achieved.

  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : Optical Society of America (OSA). - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • E-field sensing with a thermally poled fiber in a Sagnac interferometer is presented. Contactless detection is achieved for fields > 0:23MV=m at 50Hz and higher sensitivity is obtained at higher frequencies.

  • Compact three-wavelength fiber laser for multi-wavelength digital holography
  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : Optical Society of America (OSA). - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A compact three-wavelength narrow-linewidth fiber laser with single pump is demonstrated. The multiple-wavelength output signal can be effectively employed to synthesize large effective probing wavelength of up to 1.16mm for high depth resolution digital holography.

  • A novel all-vapor phase fabrication process for ytterbium-doped fibers with atomic layer deposition method
  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : Optical Society of America (OSA). - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We present a novel all-vapor phase fabrication method for producing Yb-doped fibers by atomic layer deposition (ALD) in combination with the well-established modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) technique. An MCVD soot-preform with a porous layer of SiO2 is coated with layers of Yb2O3 and Al2O3 prior to sintering, using a gas-phase ALD method. An Ybdoped fiber fabricated by this technique shows low background attenuation, uniform longitudinal Yb-doping profile, and good laser characteristics with a slope efficiency of 80%.

  • On the origin of color centers in photodarkened Yb-fibers
  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : Optical Society of America (OSA). - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Photodarkening spectra were studied for Yb-fibers co-doped with Al, Al/Ce or Al with H2-loading and it is proposed that the pump-induced color centers in Yb/Al-doped silica fibers mainly consist of Yb2+ and AlOHC.

  • Fully spliced optofluidic fiber arrangement
  • 2013
  • In: Optics InfoBase Conference Papers. - Washington, D.C. : OSA. - 9781557529848
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • An all-fiber optofluidic arrangement is presented allowing for low-loss (>1 dB) light coupling from telecom fiber to a liquid-core fiber waveguide, simultaneous hermetic fluid delivery from a capillary to the liquid core, and fluid flow.
