  • Comparing different building energy efficiency refurbishment packages performed within different district heating systems
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Energy Procedia. - : Elsevier BV. - 1876-6102. ; 105, s. 1719-1724, s. 1719-1724, s. 1719-1724
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study analyses the differences in primary energy (PE) use of a multi-family building refurbished with different refurbishment packages situated in different district heating systems (DHS). Four models of typical DHS are defined to represent the Swedish DH sector. The refurbishment packages are chosen to represent typical, yet innovative ways to improve the energy efficiency of a representative multi-family building in Sweden. The study was made from a broad system perspective, including valuation of changes in electricity use on the margin. The results show a significant difference in PE savings for the different refurbishment packages, depending on both the package itself as well as the type of DHS. Also, the package giving the lowest specific energy use per m2 was not the one which saved the most PE. © 2017 The Authors.

  • Population genomics of the Viking world
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Nature. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1476-4687 .- 0028-0836. ; 585:7825, s. 390-396
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The maritime expansion of Scandinavian populations during the Viking Age (about ad750–1050) was a far-flung transformation in world history1,2. Here we sequenced the genomes of 442humans from archaeological sites across Europe and Greenland (to a median depth of about 1×) to understand the global influence of this expansion. We find the Viking period involved gene flow into Scandinavia from the south and east. We observe genetic structure within Scandinavia, with diversity hotspots in the south and restricted gene flow within Scandinavia. We find evidence for a major influx of Danish ancestry into England; a Swedish influx into the Baltic; and Norwegian influx into Ireland, Iceland and Greenland. Additionally, we see substantial ancestry from elsewhere in Europe entering Scandinavia during the Viking Age. Our ancient DNA analysis also revealed that a Viking expedition included close family members. By comparing with modern populations, we find that pigmentation-associated loci have undergone strong population differentiation during the past millennium, and trace positively selected loci—including the lactase-persistence allele of LCT and alleles of ANKA that are associated with the immune response—in detail. We conclude that the Viking diaspora was characterized by substantial transregional engagement: distinct populations influenced the genomic makeup of different regions of Europe, and Scandinavia experienced increased contact with the rest of the continent.

  • Collagen epitope expression on B cells is sufficient to confer tolerance to collagen-induced arthritis
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Arthritis Research & Therapy. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1478-6362. ; 18
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: The mechanisms underlying tolerance induction and maintenance in autoimmune arthritis remain elusive. In a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis, collagen type II (CII)-induced arthritis, we explore the contribution of B cells to antigen-specific tolerance. Methods: To generate expression of the CII-peptide specifically on B-cell major histocompatibility complex type II, lentiviral-based gene therapy including a B-cell-specific Igk promoter was used. Results: Presentation of the CII-peptide on B cells significantly reduced the frequency and severity of arthritis as well as the serum levels of CII -specific IgG antibodies. Further, both frequency and suppressive function of regulatory T cells were increased in tolerized mice. Adoptive transfer of regulatory T cells from tolerized mice to naive mice ameliorated the development of CII-induced arthritis. Conclusion: Our data suggest that endogenous presentation of the CII-peptide on B cells is one of the key contributors to arthritis tolerance induction and maintenance.

  • Examining Perceptions of Teammates' Burnout and Training Hours in Athlete Burnout
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology. - : Human Kinetics. - 1932-9261 .- 1932-927X. ; 12:3, s. 316-332
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Perceptions of teammates and training load have been shown to influence athletes' physical and psychological health; however, limited research has investigated these factors in relation to burnout. Athletes (N = 140) from a variety of competitive team sports, ranging in level from regional to professional, completed questionnaires measuring individual burnout, perceptions of teammates' burnout, and training hours perweek on two occasions separated by threemonths. After controlling for burnout at time one, training hours were associated with athletes' burnout and perceptions of teammates' burnout at time two. Multilevel modeling indicated actual team burnout (i.e., the average burnout score of the individual athletes in a team) and perceived team burnout were associated with individual's own burnout. The findings highlight that burnout is dynamic and relates to physiological stressors associated with training and psychological perceptions of teammates' burnout. Future research directions exploring potential social influences on athlete burnout are presented.

  • MIND THE GAP! ACADEMIC INFORMATION LITERACY VS WORKFORCE INFORMATION LITERACY
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (ICERI2017). - : IATED-INT ASSOC TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT. - 9788469769577 ; , s. 1508-1518
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 2003 Lloyd [1] noted that there ought to be a shift in thinking by librarians and that this requires librarians to develop partnerships with workplace communities so as to understand the role that information plays in the knowledge economy. Furthermore she stated that it was necessary to develop a new language that is relevant to workplace communities and a language that ties information literacy instruction to authentic situations in the workplace. So how can we as librarians prepare students to engage in the variety of information activities that constitute workplace practice today and how can we better tailor our information literacy instruction to meet those needs in the future? One answer could be to gain an understanding on how information competencies are recognized in workplace settings and what kind of information competencies that employers seek. In this pilot study we address the following questions: Does the concept of information literacy or similar appear in British/American and Swedish job ads? What kind of qualifications are most frequent asked for in job postings? What kind of information skills do employers really look for and how does this match with the skills newly recruits have?

  • Effects of depth and overgrowth of ephemeral macroalgae on a remote subtidal NE Atlantic eelgrass (Zostera marina) community
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Marine Pollution Bulletin. - : Elsevier BV. - 0025-326X. ; 177
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We conducted a short-term field sampling complemented with time integrating stable isotope analysis to ho- listically investigate status and ecological interactions in a remote NE Atlantic Zostera marina meadow. We found high nutrient water concentrations, large biomass of fast-growing, ephemeral macroalgae, low abundance, and biodiversity of epifauna and a food web with thornback ray (Raja clavata) as intermediate and cod (Gadus morhua) as top predator. We observed no variation with increasing depth (3.5–11 m) except for decreasing shoot density and biomass of Zostera and macroalgae. Our results indicate that the Finnøya Zostera ecosystem is eutrophicated. During the past three to four decades, nutrients from aquaculture have steadily increased to reach 75% of anthropogenic input while the coastal top predator cod has decreased by 50%. We conclude that bottom-up regulation is a predominant driver of change since top-down regulation is generally weak in low density and exposed Zostera ecosystems such as Finnøya.

  • Akut buksmärta under pågående graviditet var spontan ruptur av a uterina. Ovanligt och livshotande tillstånd
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Läkartidningen. - 0023-7205. ; 107:41, s. 2484-2486
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This case report illustrates a very rare and very serious complication during ongoing pregnancy, namely spontaneous rupture of the uterine artery. Late diagnosis increases the morbidity and mortality for the foetus as well as for the pregnant woman. Angiography gives the diagnosis. In the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen in a pregnant woman spontaneous rupture of the uterine arteries as the cause of intra abdominal bleeding during the second and third trimester should be included, especially with a history of endometriosis.

  • The transition of academic information literacy into workplace information literacy : A challenge ahead
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: ICERI2012 Proceedings, 5th International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation, Madrid, Spain. 19-21 November, 2012. - Madrid : IATED. - 9788461607631 ; , s. 5642-5648
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • University students nowadays have become accustomed to digital resources provided by the academic library. But this normally ends after graduation when they enter the workforce and when they no longer have access to full text journals, research databases and other reference tools. Former students wish to rely upon the same resources they were using during their student days, resources that now are out of reach due to restricted access. To add to this problematic situation there is recognition in the literature that businesses must employ workers who know how to deal with information and use it for both personal and work success. But working life have different information practices for locating information that require a different set of standards for evaluating and effective use of information.

  • Cardiovascular response to stress and perceived stress is not altered 40 years after hypertensive pregnancies
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Hypertension in Pregnancy. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1064-1955 .- 1525-6065. ; 34:1, s. 116-124
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: Women experiencing hypertensive pregnancies have an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. Whether stress increase the risk is unknown. The objective was to test if cardiovascular response to stress and/or perceived stress differed in relation to blood pressure status during pregnancy 40 years earlier. Methods: Cardiovascular response was examined with mental stress test, and perceived stress was evaluated with a questionnaire in 105 women. Results: Resting heart rate was higher, and pulse reactivity was lower in women with previous hypertensive pregnancies. Neither blood pressure nor perceived stress differed. Conclusion: Response to physical or psychological stress is not affected many years after pregnancy.
