  • Information sharing for sales and operations planning: Contextualized solutions and mechanisms
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Operations Management. - : Wiley. - 1873-1317 .- 0272-6963. ; 52, s. 15-29
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We develop actionable design propositions for collaborative sales and operations planning (S&OP) based on the observation of contexts in which benefits are generated — or are absent — from retail information sharing for a manufacturer. An information sharing pilot project in a real-life setting of two product manufacturers and one retailer was designed. The project resulted in one manufacturer, serving a retailer from its local factory, developing a process for collaborative S&OP, while the other manufacturer serving a retailer from more distant regional factories abandoned the process. The evaluation of the outcomes experienced by the two manufacturers allows us to examine contexts in fine-grained detail and explain why introducing information sharing in the S&OP processes produce — or fail to produce — benefits. The paper contributes to the supply chain information sharing literature by presenting a field tested and evolved S&OP design for non-standard demand situations, and by a contextual analysis of the mechanisms that produce the benefits of retailer collaboration and information sharing in the S&OP process.

  • Additive Manufacturing of Slow-Moving Automotive Spare Parts: A Supply Chain Cost Assessment
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing. - : MDPI AG. - 2504-4494. ; 7:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study develops a cost model for the additive manufacturing (AM)-produced spare parts supply chain in the automotive industry. Moreover, we evaluate the economic feasibility of AM for slow-moving automotive spare parts by comparing the costs of the traditional manufacturing (TM) spare parts supply chain (SPSC) with centralized, outsourced AM SPSC. Data from a multiple case study of an OEM in the automotive industry regarding SPSC is utilized. The supply chain costs of 14 individual spare parts were analyzed, and the total SPSC cost for the AM and TM, were compared. Three of the fourteen parts showed potential for cost-savings, if they were produced with AM instead of TM. In this context, AM polymer parts showed greater potential than metal to replace TM as the more economical option of manufacturing from a total supply chain cost perspective. This study shows that the AM competitiveness to TM, from a financial perspective, increases for spare parts with low demand, high minimum order quantity, and high TM production price. The SPSC cost model included: cost of production, transport, warehousing, and service costs. This study contributes to the emerging field of part identification for AM and the existing literature regarding cost modeling in SPSCs.

  • In-transit services and hybrid shipment control: The use of smart goods in transportation networks
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Transportation Research, Part C: Emerging Technologies. - : Elsevier BV. - 0968-090X. ; 36, s. 231-244
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes how the incremental introduction of smart goods and tracking-based information management practices enables hybrid shipment control of less-than-truckload (LTL) transport networks and the provision of in-transit services to transport-buying customers. A design theory is developed using interface modeling and discrete event simulation methodology. Interface modeling shows the types of in-transit services that are possible to introduce using smart goods. An empirically grounded simulation demonstrates how transporters can achieve incremental efficiency improvements through hybrid shipment control as customers adopt in-transit services. The results show how in-transit services offered to customers constitutes a platform on which transporters can implement hybrid shipment control, which can substantially reduce resource requirements and the carbon footprint of LTL transportation networks. The design theory articulates a strategy for simultaneously improving customer service and operating efficiency through the introduction of smart goods. The originality and value of the paper is the demonstration of how smart goods can simultaneously benefit transport-buying customers and transporters, thus showing how to overcome the bootstrapping problem of digital infrastructure creation and enabling the vision of a Physical Internet in transportation.

  • SWEDISH NATIONAL REGISTRY FOR BLEEDING DISORDERS – A SECOND REPORT
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: EAHAD 2019.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Hemophilia Care in Sweden is centralized to three different and certified European Hemophilia Care Centers (EHCCs) (Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö[f1]). A recent web- based National registry has been set up for patients with bleeding disorders in Sweden. The registry is mainly funded by Swedish authorities. Methods: A multi- professional steering committee is running the registry with representatives from all three centers including physicians, nurses, physiotherapist and also a patient representative. A web- based platform, Real- Q, is used for the registry. Results: By the 31st Dec 2017, a total number of 1030 patients with bleeding disorders were included in the registry, mainly patients with hemophilia A, B and Von Willebrand disease. Data regarding bleedings, treatment modality and type of product, inhibitor status, viral infections are collected. Likewise patient reported outcome measurements (PROM)- such as pain and quality of life[.The number of patients with hemophilia A, B and Von Willebrand disease in 2016 resp 2017 were as follows:Hemophilia A; n = 243 in 2016 and n= 691 in 2017.Hemophilia B: n = 49 in 2016 and n = 191 in 2017.Von Willebrand disease: n = 11 in 2016 and n = 152 in 2017.[LMW1] are registered.[LMW2] are registered on a regular basis? Discussion/Conclusion: The number of patients in the Swedish National Registry for bleeding disorders has increased significantly during the last year; from a total of 308 Dec 31st 2016 to 1030 in Dec 31st 2017. Increasing amount of data will enable further evaluation of treatment data and also joint status, quality of life and bleeding reports.
