  • Determining Attribute Importance in a Customer Satisfaction Model
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Journal of Service Research, (2004) 7: pp 124-141.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Determining the importance that customers place on the product and service attributes that drive their satisfaction with and loyalty to service providers is an essential part of a firms resource allocation process. An unsettled issue is whether importance measures should come directly from customers or be derived statistically and, if so, how. The authors compare direct importance ratings with a variety of methods for statistically deriving attribute importance in a customer satisfaction model. Using three data sets, the methods are compared on criteria that include their ability to explain variation in satisfaction, identify customers more important attributes, and be interpretable. The findings suggest that, because each of the tested methods has its strengths and weaknesses, it is essential to choose a method that is compatible with the research goals and context

  • Measuring and Managing the Satisfaction - Loyalty - Performance Links at Volvo
  • 2000
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper a general framework is developed for linking measures from quality to business performance via customer satisfaction and loyalty. We illustrate how the framework has been applied at Volvo Car Corporation. The example shows that it is possible to establish where a company should focus its improvement efforts in order to making it pay off. This in terms of that Volvo gains a greater number of loyal customers that actually spend more money with the company

  • Exploring data quality and use of the routine health information system in Ethiopia: a mixed-methods study
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: BMJ open. - : BMJ. - 2044-6055. ; 11:12, s. e050356-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A routine health information system (RHIS) enables decision making in the healthcare system. We aimed to analyse data quality at the district and regional level and explore factors and perceptions affecting the quality and use of routine data.DesignThis was a mixed-methods study. We used the WHO toolkit for analysing data quality and interviewed staff at the point of data generation and along with the flow of data. Data were analysed using the Performance of Routine Information System Management framework.SettingThis study was performed in eight districts in four regions of Ethiopia. The study was nested within a 2-year programme of the Operational Research and Coaching for government Analysts.ParticipantsWe visited 45 health posts, 1 district hospital, 16 health centres and 8 district offices for analysis of routine RHIS data and interviewed 117 staff members for the qualitative assessment.Outcome measuresWe assessed availability of source documents, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of reporting of routine data, and explored data quality and use perceptions.ResultsThere was variable quality of both indicator and data element. Data on maternal health and immunisation were of higher quality than data on child nutrition. Issues ranged from simple organisational factors, such as availability of register books, to intricate technical issues, like complexity of indicators and choice of denominators based on population estimates. Respondents showed knowledge of the reporting procedures, but also demonstrated limited skills, lack of supportive supervision and reporting to please the next level. We saw limited examples of the use of data by the staff who were responsible for data reporting.ConclusionWe identified important organisational, technical, behavioural and process factors that need further attention to improve the quality and use of RHIS data in Ethiopia.

  • Phytoplankton responses to nitrogen and phosphorus enrichment in unproductive Swedish lakes along a gradient of atmospheric nitrogen deposition
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Aquatic Biology. - : Inter-Research Science Center. - 1864-7782 .- 1864-7790. ; 4, s. 55-64
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Lake sampling and in situ nutrient enrichment enclosure experiments with nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) were conducted in unproductive Swedish lakes along a gradient of increasing atmospheric N-deposition. The regional and seasonal patterns of nutrient limitation of phytoplankton were clearly related to the amounts of N-deposition and N-inputs the lakes received. In areas of low N-deposition in northern Sweden, N-limitation of phytoplankton was evident throughout the summer season due to high catchment N-retention and very low dissolved inorganic N (DIN) inputs during the early summer. High N-deposition in the south was accompanied by high lake DIN-concentrations during the early summer and subsequent P-limitation of phytoplankton. However, P-limitation did not persist over the summer and, as a consequence of a declining DIN-pool, the lakes switched to dual- and co-limitation by N and P, and then to N-limitation. Generally, the lakes were N-limited rather than P-limited during the summer. We conclude that N-limitation is probably a natural state of the unproductive lakes studied, but P-limitation of variable intensity and duration has been induced by elevated atmospheric N-deposition.

  • No inheritance of vegetative mutations into sexual spores of the fungus Marasmius oreades
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Mutations accumulate in living cells over time and replications. In modular organisms that lack a segregated germline, mutations that arise during vegetative growth are expected to be inherited by the sexual progeny. Here we tested this hypothesis in a 12-year-old genet of the fairy-ring forming fungus Marasmius oreades, by using whole-genome sequencing of fruiting bodies and isolates from their meiotically derived basidiospores. As the fruiting bodies of a fairy ring share a common ancestor, new vegetative mutations could be identified in their genomes as variants that were unique to one or a subset of fruiting bodies. Using this approach, we identified 61 different mutations, and strikingly, none of them were recovered in the single-spore isolates from the same fruiting bodies. Purifying selection on new mutations was ruled out as factor removing mutations by investigating linked variants. We discuss different models that can account for the lack of mutation inheritance, including a cryptic germline in the fungus. Our results shed light on how new genetic variation is introduced and maintained in fungal populations.

  • Feeding cassava foliage to sheep : nutrient properties and hydrogen cyanide toxicity
  • 2012
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The potential of cassava foliage (Manihot esculenta Crantz) as a protein-rich feed in sheep production in Vietnam was examined by studying cassava foliage yield, hydrogen cyanide (HCN) content, toxicity and performance of lambs fed the foliage as a supplement. Cassava foliage fed ad libitum as a protein supplement to a basal diet of urea-treated rice straw gave similar lamb live weight gain (LWG) as diets supplemented with commercial concentrate or protein-rich foliage of stylosanthes (Stylosanthes guianensis) or jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus). Field studies showed that higher harvesting frequency gave higher yield of cassava foliage. A K94 cassava variety always gave the highest foliage yield. Content of dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF) and total tannins in the cassava foliage increased with plant and leaf maturation, while crude protein (CP) and HCN content decreased. Total tannin content was highest at first harvest and decreased slightly at subsequent harvests, while the reverse was true for HCN content. Different cassava varieties and degrees of processing (fresh, wilted or hay) resulted in differences in foliage HCN content. Feeding cassava foliage at 2% of body weight (BW) from the start led to wasted feed, but prolonging the adaptation period to 21 days resulted in lower LWG. A 7-day period for adaptation to cassava foliage was a good compromise for lamb performance and health. Feeding cassava foliage as fresh, wilted or hay did not result in any difference in LWG, but hay had lower DM and CP digestibility. Inclusion of cassava in the diet of sheep had a positive nematode control effect, but HCN consumption and thiocyanate concentration in urine increased with increasing foliage intake.

  • The chiral de Rham complex and quantum non-linear sigma models
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Nuclear physics B, Proceedings supplements. - : Elsevier BV. - 0920-5632 .- 1873-3832. ; 216:1, s. 241-242
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In [1,2] the interpretation of the chiral de Rham complex as a formal quantization of 2d non-linear sigma models in the Hamiltonian framework was suggested and used to compute symmetry algebras for quantum models with non-flat target spaces. Here we review the construction.

  • 201Thallium SPECT; accuracy in astrocytoma diagnosis and treatment evaluation
  • 1999
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The aims of the studies included in this thesis were:• to investigate the reliability of 201thallium single photon emission computed tomography (201Tl SPECT) for preoperative diagnosis and histological staging of malignant astrocytomas in comparison with CT; • to develop a method for quantification of cerebral thallium uptake, and to evaluate the quantitative measurement in comparison with CT, for astrocytoma treatment follow-up purposes; • to compare quantitative 201Tl SPECT and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) with conventional MR imaging for astrocytoma monitoring, and to evaluate associations between change of morphological tumour characteristics during treatment and changes of cerebral thallium uptake and metabolic ratios. Results and conclusions:• High 201Tl-index, calculated as a ratio comparing tumour uptake to uptake in the contralateral hemisphere, is an indicator of highly malignant astrocytoma. Differentiation between the high-grade astrocytomas, the low-grade astrocytomas, and infectious lesions is only partial, with an overlap of 201Tl-indexes between these groups. High-grade astrocytomas that do not show contrast enhancement on CT, and astrocytomas with central necrosis and moderate ring-enhancement, tend to be underestimated when evaluated by 201Tl-index calculation. 201Tl SPECT is not a reliable method for non-invasive tumour staging among the group of highly malignant astrocytomas. • Quantification of cerebral 201Tl-uptake, defining the volume of viable tumour tissue, is a new method for astrocytoma chemotherapy monitoring. Results suggest that the method provides prognostic information, and information of treatment efficacy, at an earlier stage than CT. • We did not find a higher accuracy of quantitative 201Tl SPECT than of MR for monitoring purposes and our results indicated that treatment induced MR changes were interrelated with 201Tl-uptake variations. • Multi-voxel 1H-MRS was difficult to apply for astrocytoma treatment monitoring, due to the anatomical and histological heterogeneity of astrocytomas.
