- This study deploys a critical approach to big data analytics to gauge the tentative contours of data voids in Google searches that reflect extreme-right dynamics of exclusion in the aftermath of the 2015 humanitarian crisis in Europe. The study adds complexity to the analysis of data voids, expanding the framework of investigation outside the USA context by concentrating on Germany and Sweden. Building on previous big data analytics addressing the politics of exclusion, the study proposes a catalogue of queries concerning the issue of migration in both Germany and Sweden on a continuum from mainstream to extreme-right vocabularies. This catalogue of queries enables specific and localized queriesto identify data voids. The results show that a search engine's reliance on source popularity may lead to extreme-right sources appearing in top positions. Furthermore, using platforms for user-generated content provides a way for localized queries to gain top positions.

- The panel initiates a discussion on the role of information behaviour research in addressing majorchallenges facing our society. These include climate change, political extremism, and health threats –in many of which information plays a crucial role. The panel asks, first, what is the role andresponsibility of information behaviour research in addressing societal challenges, and second, is therea risk of jeopardising the conceptual coherence of the research field if information behaviourresearchers to a greater extent direct their research to address major societal challenges? In the panel,five panelists will present their specific position to the questions after which all attendees are invited toparticipate in the discussion. A broad audience is expected, as the topic should be of interest toeveryone at the conference.

- This opinion piece takes Google's response to the so-called COVID-19 infodemic, as a starting point to argue for the need to consider societal relevance as a complement to other types of relevance. The authors maintain that if information science wants to be a discipline at the forefront of research on relevance, search engines, and their use, then the information science research community needs to address itself to the challenges and conditions that commercial search engines create in. The article concludes with a tentative list of related research topics.
