- Temat för konferensen i Umeå var ”Tala, lyssna, skriva, läsa, lära – modersmålsundervisning i ett nordiskt perspektiv”. De inledande fem honnörsorden i rubriken var inte tänkta som ett eko ur det förflutna, det vill säga från momentsplittringen i de gamla Lgr 69 och Lgy 70, utan fick ge namn åt parallella sessioner där svenskämnets helhet var en självklar utgångspunkt. Forskning om elevers språkutveckling i vid mening stimuleras av en vidare didaktisk syn som inte begränsas till enbart modersmålsundervisning. Forskning om hur man talar, lyssnar, läser och skriver i inlärningssituationer är något vi vill tro kan komma all undervisning till del.Det finns en risk med att sätta ’språkutveckling’ i fokus, som om studier inom fältet Svenska med didaktisk inriktning vore renodlat språkinriktade. Så är det inte. Forskning om hur skönlitteratur, och andra kommunikationsformer, kommer in i klassrummet är ett centralt forskningsområde som Nätverket vill stödja, vilket läsaren av denna konferensvolym kommer att upptäcka. Rapporter från projektet ”Den skönlitterära texten i skola och lärarutbildning” liksom samtal om framtida möjliga projekt var uppskattade inslag i konferensen. Svenska är det största ämnet i skolan, med vilka mått man än mäter och vilka aspekter man än betonar. I skolämnet Svenska ingår språk- och litteraturstudier. En lektor och lärarutbildare har än så länge normalt bara fördjupad kompetens i en av ämnets delar. Framväxten av forskarutbildning inom Svenska med didaktisk inriktning innebär på sikt en dubblering av kompetensen. Glädjande nog deltog flera doktorander och disputerade inom fältet Svenska med didaktisk inriktning i konferensen, vilket också avspeglas i denna volym.Ett utvecklat samarbete mellan universitetsämnena nordiska språk och litteraturvetenskap samt med Lärarutbildningen är en självklar förutsättning för utbildning av kvalificerade svensklärare. Vid Umeå universitet studeras nordiska språk och litteraturvetenskap vid en och samma institution, en lösning som bidragit till ett fördjupat samarbete i lärarutbildningen. Representanter från lärarutbildning, litteraturvetenskap och nordiska språk ingår också i ledningsgruppen för Nätverket, vilket bidragit till att arbetet med konferensen och konferensvolymen varit stimulerande och verklighetsförankrat.Svenskämnets storlek och betydelse gör att behovet av forskning inom både ungdomsskola, lärarutbildningar och andra inlärningssituationer är mycket stort. Nätverkets konferenser ska stimulera till adekvat forskning inom området och vara en naturlig mötesplats för forskare att presentera sina rön. Med konferensvolymen från Smdi:s fjärde konferens tar vi ännu ett steg framåt. Plenarföredragen får inleda volymen, varefter sektionsföredragen kommer i bokstavsordning.

- Denna avhandling berättar om lesbisk feminism i Sverige under 1970- och 1980-talen. Särskilt studeras produktionen av lesbiskfeministiska diskurser. Avhandlingens syfte är att undersöka genom vilka (kollektiva och politiska) diskursproduktioner som lesbiska feminister förstod sina identiteter, kroppar, kön och sexualitet. Till syftet hör också att studera hur kvinnornas diskursproduktioner kan förstås i spänningsfälten mellan motstånd och makt. Det empiriska material som analyseras består av olika texter såsom protokoll, magasin, fanzines, sångtexter och artiklar. Dessa texter producerades av en heterogen grupp av lesbiska feminister som fanns i Stockholm. Denna grupp hette på 70-talet Grupp Viktoria och Lesbisk Front, och på 80-talet Lesbiska feminister. Ett viktigt påstående som görs i avhandlingen är att lesbiska blev kvinnor under 1970- och 1980-talen. De blev en särskild sorts kvinnor, nämligen kvinnoidentifierade kvinnor.Studien av lesbiskfeministiska diskurser genomförs med hjälp av analytiska redskap från ett brett fält av teorier. Denna teoretiska pluralism, som kallas för en teoretisk feministisk nomadologi, består av sexual differnece- och queerteori, ett tänkande som fokuserar skillnader och intersektionalitet. Den består också av kroppsmaterialistisk teori och socialkonstruktivistisk social rörelseteori. Avhandlingen berättas genom ett särskilt skrivande. Detta slags skrivande utgår från att vetenskap ska betraktas som en historieberättande praktik.

Adolescentes abandonnées : Je narrateur adolescent dans le roman français contemporain

- This thesis examines the image of the adolescent girl in contemporary French first-person novels, read from a gender perspective. It is both a thematic and a narratologic study of thirty-two novels (1950-1999), focusing on the use of stereotypical concepts of femininity. From a thematic perspective, the female protagonists’ world stands out as dark and problematic, especially in comparison with the world of the male protagonists. The recurrent themes revolve around sexuality and violence in both worlds, but they are treated differently depending on the biological sex of the protagonist. This thematic study thus shows that the protagonists live in a patriarchal world, with different norms for girls and boys. However, an examination of the ‘I’ narrator somewhat modifies the compact, gloomy picture of the girls’ situation. The authors introduce perspectives on the fictional universe of the adolescent, for instance by contrasting the focalization of the adolescent and potentially unreliable narrator with the supposed view of the adult reader. These perspectives are subversive in some novels, but mostly vague. Accordingly, the readers are often left to their own interpretation and evaluation of the adolescent girls’ situation. Finally, a discussion of virtual readers and “target readers” shows a tendency to read and market the novels in question as more or less autobiographical. Such readings modify their ideological potential.

Textens väg : om förutsättningar för texturval i gymnasieskolans svenskundervisning

- This thesis looks at conditions for selections of fictional texts in the Swedish subject in the upper secondary school. Three different empirical materials have contributed to the understanding of what conditions there are for the texts to enter the classroom. The first material consists of national policy documents from 1970 to 2005. Here there is a tendency that the student goes from being an object for knowledge to becoming a subject that creates his/her own knowledge. With this development the contents and the given aims with the subject become more abstract, which leads to the framework of the curriculum becoming wider and more difficult to interpret. Simultaneously the focus is moved from mediation of given knowledge, to the development of an identity for the individual.The second material consists of debate and method articles from Svenskläraren, a magazine for members, published by an organisation of Swedish teachers. The study comprise articles from the same period of time as the national curricula. In the articles there are three tendencies reflecting the changes in the discourse of the Swedish subject. The first tendency shows how the overall ideological debate on the subject disappears during this period. The second tendency shows how discussions about the conceptions of the subject is replaced by more and more concrete examples of methods. The third tendency depicts that the concrete text selections have moved from being partly predetermined during the seventies to become debated during the eighties, to finally during the nineties end up in a situation where some texts has a sufficient cultural capital not to need justifications, whereas others need it.The third material consists of interviews with, and observations of, four active teachers, in order to find what conditions there are for text selections in their rhetoric and practice. The results show a clear impression of informal institutional factors and of the school culture. However, this seems to decrease with experience. There are big differences in how the teachers speak about text selections and text use and what the result becomes in practice. Here professionalism in form of knowledge in subject didactics could have a vast impact.

Att föda text. : En studie i Hélène Cixous författarskap.

- This study focuses on the metafiction of childbirth as a metaphor and on the frequent traces of the (autobiographical) father and the mother in Hélène Cixous's writing. First, I give a theoretical background including theories of metafiction, metaphor and the delicate relations between fiction and "reality". In the following chapter, The Father, I examine different ways to understand the traces of the father (date and year of the father's death, the letters of his name, his apparition) - from Le Prénom de Dieu and Dedans to OR, les lettres de mon père and Manhattan - as metafictive signs, as autofiction and preferably as expérience littéraire.In the chapter on The Mother I observe that the mother is present in Hélène Cixous's writing on several levels; she is metaphor, myth and memory. She is connected to the childbirth metaphor, where delivery gives birth to texts; and consequently the author thereby changes the old western view of the author as a man. The mother is also a narrative device, appearing in the texts already from the beginning, making remarks about the daughter's writing, thinking and doing. She is a matter-of-fact voice in dialogue with the author/daughter. The mother becomes the protagonist in Osnabrück which by means of her memories from Nazi Germany I take as an example of "witness literature". In the chapter of The Child, I treat the frequent use of the childbirth metaphor in Hélène Cixous's writing, taking my examples mainly from the fictions of La, Angst, Préparatifs de noces au delà de l'abîme, Ananké and Illa. Following George Lakoff and Mark Johnson in Metaphors We Live By I distinguish the delivery scenes as the core of the metaphor, generating a whole network of expressions and pictures connecting breeding and writing, including brooding birds, flowers opening and the pride of the mouse giving birth to a mountain.In my concluding chapter, I oppose some earlier understanding of Hélène Cixous's childbirth metaphor as writing as a female "essence". On the contrary, her writing from its very start, deconstructs old western dicotomies. The white ink metaphor, famous from "The Laugh of the Medusa", also is the ink of the invisible ones. The child born as a language, a poem, a writing contains the symbolic force of the new life which combats oblivion and death.

- La problématique de l’écriture et la vie sera abordée dans le présent article, où je soulignerai que, dès ses débuts, la position d’Hélène Cixous suppose une distanciation de l’auteure par rapport à l’écriture autobiographique. En centrant mon analyse sur une scène de Si près (2007), je constate que l’expérience de la narratrice faite chez les écrivains publics à Oran démontre cette même position: c’est l’écrivain qui est l’inventeur de l’écriture et la fiction ne reproduit pas le réel. J’établis une comparaison entre Cixous et Cervantes: dans Don Quichotte I, chapitre 9, il y a une scène métafictive qui, d’une manière semblable, nous incite à réfléchir sur « la vérité » de la fiction et sur le rôle de l’écrivain. Puisant l’énergie créatrice au rêve et à l’inconscient, Hélène Cixous crée à partir des traces autobiographiques qui parcourent son œuvre un « miracle littéraire ». Les fragments personnels, tirés de notre histoire commune, prennent une valeur universelle.
