  • Co-existing disorders in ADHD -- implications for diagnosis and intervention.
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1018-8827 .- 1435-165X. ; 13 Suppl 1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: It is only recently that "comorbidity" in ADHD has come to the forefront as one of the most important aspects of the disorder. It is agreed that, often, these problems are at least as important as ADHD in contributing to the longer term outcome in the individual child. OBJECTIVE: To provide the reader with basic information about clinics and treatment of "comorbidity" in ADHD. METHOD: Review of the empirically based literature. RESULTS: ADHD exists in a surprisingly high frequency together with a broad range of child neuropsychiatric disorders. This is accompanied with many still unresolved treatment problems. CONCLUSION: It would not be appropriate to develop ADHD-services where clinicians would only have expertise in ADHD as such. Anyone working with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD would need to have training in general neuropsychiatry. Further research in this field is urgently needed.

  • A breakage and adhesion regime map for the normal impact of loose agglomerates with a spherical target
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: AICHE Journal. - : Wiley. - 1547-5905 .- 0001-1541. ; 61:12, s. 4059-4068
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Discrete element method-based analysis is conducted to investigate the effects of interface energy between particles on the breakage and adhesion of loose agglomerates upon impact with a spherical target. A mechanistic approach is tested to find a relationship between particle properties, kinetic energy, and the agglomerate structure after the impact, which resulted in a new dimensionless number, the ratio of the two interface energies. In combination with Δ, a dimensionless number relating incident kinetic energy to agglomerate strength (Moreno-Atanasio and Ghadiri M, Chem Eng Sci. 2006;61(8):2476-2481), a good description of the agglomerate impact is obtained. The agglomerate structure after impact is mapped using the two dimensionless numbers and is in good agreement with experimental observations. The constructed regime map can serve as a guide for selecting preliminary process parameters in adhesive particle mixing.

  • A compartmental CFD-PBM model of high shear wet granulation
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: AICHE Journal. - : Wiley. - 1547-5905 .- 0001-1541. ; 63:2, s. 438-458
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • © 2016 American Institute of Chemical EngineersThe conventional, geometrically lumped description of the physical processes inside a high shear granulator is not reliable for process design and scale-up. In this study, a compartmental Population Balance Model (PBM) with spatial dependence is developed and validated in two lab-scale high shear granulation processes using a 1.9L MiPro granulator and 4L DIOSNA granulator. The compartmental structure is built using a heuristic approach based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, which includes the overall flow pattern, velocity and solids concentration. The constant volume Monte Carlo approach is implemented to solve the multi-compartment population balance equations. Different spatial dependent mechanisms are included in the compartmental PBM to describe granule growth. It is concluded that for both cases (low and high liquid content), the adjustment of parameters (e.g. layering, coalescence and breakage rate) can provide a quantitative prediction of the granulation process. © 2016 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 63: 438–458, 2017.
