  • Thickness dependent performance of Na0.5K0.5NbO3/sapphire thin film varactors
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Integrated Ferroelectrics. - 1058-4587 .- 1607-8489. ; 39:1-4, s. 1353-1360
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Perfect c-axis oriented Na0.5K0.5NbO3 (NKN) films have been pulsed laser deposited on Al2O3(01 (1) under bar2) single crystals (r-cut sapphire) for voltage tunable microwave device applications. Thickness dependence of dielectric performance of the NKN/sapphire interdigital capacitors (IDCs) has been studied. 40 V bias tunability and dielectric loss tandelta of 4 burr slot IDCs have been found to be 24.6 % and 2.86 % for 1.2 mum thick NKN film, and 6.1 % and 0.83 % for 0.14 mum thick NKN film, respectively. Low leakage currents and high breakdown voltages are observed in these structures.

  • Bedmap2 : improved ice bed, surface and thickness datasets for Antarctica
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: The Cryosphere. - : Copernicus GmbH. - 1994-0416 .- 1994-0424. ; 7:1, s. 375-393
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present Bedmap2, a new suite of gridded products describing surface elevation, ice-thickness and the seafloor and subglacial bed elevation of the Antarctic south of 60 degrees S. We derived these products using data from a variety of sources, including many substantial surveys completed since the original Bedmap compilation (Bedmap1) in 2001. In particular, the Bedmap2 ice thickness grid is made from 25 million measurements, over two orders of magnitude more than were used in Bedmap1. In most parts of Antarctica the subglacial landscape is visible in much greater detail than was previously available and the improved data-coverage has in many areas revealed the full scale of mountain ranges, valleys, basins and troughs, only fragments of which were previously indicated in local surveys. The derived statistics for Bedmap2 show that the volume of ice contained in the Antarctic ice sheet (27 million km(3)) and its potential contribution to sea-level rise (58 m) are similar to those of Bedmap1, but the mean thickness of the ice sheet is 4.6% greater, the mean depth of the bed beneath the grounded ice sheet is 72m lower and the area of ice sheet grounded on bed below sea level is increased by 10 %. The Bedmap2 compilation highlights several areas beneath the ice sheet where the bed elevation is substantially lower than the deepest bed indicated by Bedmap1. These products, along with grids of data coverage and uncertainty, provide new opportunities for detailed modelling of the past and future evolution of the Antarctic ice sheets.

  • Patient characteristics and intervention effect as measured by Voice Handicap Index
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Logopedics, Phoniatrics, Vocology. - : TAYLOR & FRANCIS LTD. - 1401-5439 .- 1651-2022. ; 42:2, s. 93-98
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: To analyze patients with a confirmed voice disorder in order to identify patterns regarding age, gender, and occupation compared to the general public. To explore effects of voice therapy according to the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) score pre- and post-therapy in relation to the number of sessions, age, and gender. Design: Prospective cohort study. Materials and methods: This study was conducted as a collaborative project between Linkoping University and hospitals in the south-east health care region in Sweden. Six voice clinics participated by asking their patients voluntarily to complete the Swedish version of the VHI at the beginning and end of therapy. Results and conclusions: The two most prevalent diagnoses were dysphonia (43%) and phonasthenia (25%). Among the working population, the three most common occupational fields were education, health care, and child-care. The majority of the patients were women (74.3%), and the mean age of all patients was 55 years. A significant improvement in VHI scores was found after therapy, with an average decrease of 19 median points in total score and a substantial effect size (0.55). The number of sessions did not significantly correlate with the mean VHI score difference but had a weak correlation to the start and end scores. Increasing age correlated with a higher median VHI score both at the start and end of therapy but did not affect the average decrease between the two measurements.

  • Joint disease, the hallmark of haemophilia: What issues and challenges remain despite the development of effective therapies?
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Thrombosis Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 1879-2472 .- 0049-3848. ; 133:6, s. 967-971
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Although effective therapies for haemophilia have been available for decades, the prevention and treatment of joint disease remain major clinical concerns for all haemophilia patients. Early identification of joint disease is vital to initiate or modify treatment, and prevent arthropathy. However, there remains a need for more sensitive and accurate methods, which may also detect improvement in patient outcome with new therapies or different prophylaxis regimens. These topics were explored at the Ninth Zürich Haemophilia Forum. A summary of our shared views on the limitations of current assessment methods, and the potential advantages of more recently developed tools, is provided. Ultrasonography enables more frequent routine monitoring and the early detection of joint disease. In addition, serological markers may provide suitable biomarkers of early arthropathy. To prevent arthropathy, in our opinion, prophylaxis is key to prevent joint bleeds and subsequent initiation of the 'vicious circle of joint disease'. However, issues remain, including when prophylaxis should be started, stopped, and if it is efficacious for inhibitor patients. Once joint bleeding has occurred, enhanced on-demand treatment should be considered. For more advanced stages of joint disease, the issues regarding the treatment options available are explored. Radiosynovectomy should be performed to treat chronic synovitis, and may prevent the need for elective orthopaedic surgery (EOS). Ultimately, however, EOS can be considered once all other treatment options have been explored. While, bypassing agents have facilitated the use of EOS in inhibitor patients, a multidisciplinary approach and careful surveillance is required for good patient outcome.

  • Chaldeans on the Nile : two Egyptian astronomical procedure texts with Babylonian systems A1 and A2 for Mercury
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: "The scaffolding of our thoughts". - Leiden : Brill Academic Publishers. - 9789004363373 ; , s. 382-419
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The authors present two demotic ostraca from the Ashmolean Museum with instructions for computing Mercury's first and last evening and morning visibilities. The instructions are based on Babylonian systems A1and A2. They employ a mathematical formulation based on "elementary steps" that is not yet attested in Babylonia. As will be argued, the procedure shed new light on the role of native Egyptian scholars in the transfer of astral science from Babylonia to Egypt.

  • Study of bias networks with RF choke for ultra-wideband systems
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this letter, bias networks with three different radio frequency chokes for ultra-wideband systems have been studied. The bias network with a butterfly stub results in not only the broadest band, but also the highest robustness. Resonances generated within the DC path of the bias network are investigated and explained. Both simulation and experimental results show that microstrip bias networks for ultra-wideband systems can be optimized to avoid or reduce the resonance phenomena.
