Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Lifetimes of excited states in Th-229, populated in the beta decay of Ac-229, have been measured using the advanced time-delayed beta gamma gamma(t) method. Half-lives of 14 states have been determined including 11 of them for the first time. Twenty-seven new gamma lines have been introduced into the beta-decay scheme of Ac-229 based on results of gamma gamma coincidence measurements. Reduced transition probabilities have been determined for more than 70 gamma transitions in Th-229. Average parallel to D-0 parallel to values of 0.029(1), 0.077(3), and 0.024(5) e fm have been deduced for the lowest K-pi=1/2(+/-),3/2(+/-), and 5/2(+/-) parity partner bands, respectively. Excited states in Th-229 and experimental transition rates have been interpreted within the quasiparticle-plus-phonon model. The half-life of the 3.5-eV, 3/2(+) isomeric state is predicted to be about 10 h. Potential energy surfaces on the (beta(2),beta(3)) plane for the lowest single quasiparticle configurations in Th-229 have been calculated using the Strutinsky method.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Gamma-ray lines from Sn-103 have been identified for the first time using EUROBALL and ancillary detectors. The level scheme of Sn-103 has been established by means of particle-gated gamma gamma coincidences. The energy spacing between the g(7/2) and d(5/2) neutron single-particle orbitals is determined from the excited states in Sn-103.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- High-spin states in Sb-106 have been investigated in the Fe-54(Ni-58, 1α 1p1n) reaction by in-beam γ-spectroscopic methods using the EUROBALL detector array equipped with charged particle and neutron detectors. On the basis of measured γγ-coincidence relations, angular distributions, and linear polarization ratios a significantly extended level scheme has been constructed up to spin and parity I-π = (19(-)) and E-x ∼ 6.5 MeV. The experimental results are interpreted within the framework of the gdsh shell model using a realistic effective nucleon-nucleon interaction. Candidates for states with fully aligned angular momenta in the π(d(5/2), g(7/2))(1) v (d(5/2), g(7/2))(5) valence space are identified at 4338 and 5203 keV, as well as in the π(d(5/2), g(7/2))(1) V(d(5/2), g(7/2))(4)h(11/2)(1) space at 6087, 6573 and 6783 keV.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Excited states of Te-108 were populated in the Fe-54 + Ni-58 (270 MeV) reaction using the NORDBALL detector array equipped with charged-particle and neutron detector systems for reaction channel separation. Gamma rays belonging to the neutron deficient nucleus Te-108 were identified for the first time. On the basis of gammagamma-coincidence and angular correlation relations a level scheme was constructed with tentative spin and parity assignments. The structure of the nucleus is discussed in the framework of systematics of heavier Te nuclei.

HIGH-SPIN BAND STRUCTURES IN CD-104

Ingår i: Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 0939-7922 .- 1431-5831. ; 352:2, s. 117-118

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- High spin states in Cd-104 have been investigated by means of heavy ion induced reactions using the Nordball detector array. The level scheme constructed from yy-coincidences is dominated by three band structures, The positive parity band shows no rotational like energy spacing, It is thus understood mostly in terms of quasiparticle excitations with vd(5/2), Vg(7/2) and pi g(9/2) configurations, The collective properties of the negative parity bands are more pronounced. These bands are most likely due to v(h(11/2),d(5/2)) and v(h(11/2)g(7/2)) structures.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- High-spin states of the isotopes 103,105,107,109In have been investigated using in-beam γ-ray spectroscopic methods. Results from three different experiments are presented. Targets of 54Fe, 50Cr, and 92Mo were bombarded by a 270 and 261 MeV 58Ni beam and by a 95 MeV 19F beam, respectively. Reaction channel separation was achieved with a charged-particle detector array and in the first two experiments also with a 1π neutron detector system. As a result of these experiments the level schemes of 103,105,107,109In were significantly extended. Excited states of these odd-A indium isotopes are discussed within the framework of the nuclear shell model and the hole-core coupling scheme. The systematics of excited states of light odd-A indium isotopes is also discussed.

The isospin dependent p-n multiplets in the region of doubly magic Sn-100
- 1996
-
Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- Experimental data on p-n multiplets appearing in the nuclei near double-magic Sn-100 accesible in heavy-ion fusion-evaporation experiments have been analyzed. Proton-rich nuclei in this region have been investigated using the NORDBALL array. A Ni-58 beams at energies of 270 Mev on Fe-54 and 261 MeV on Cr-50 targets were used. Reaction channel separation was achieved with a 4 pi charged particle multi-detector set-up together with a 1 pi neutron detector wall placed in the forward direction. On the basis of gamma gamma-coincidence and angular correlation relations a level schemes of several light Sn, In, Sb, Te and I nuclei were observed for the first time in the present experiment. The observed structure of nuclei are discussed in the framework of the nuclear shell-model. The p-n multiplets in the A similar to 100 region corresponding to the nucleon pairs with mixed configurations has been considered as a playground for the tests of the T = 0 and T = 1 parts of the effective interaction.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- The structure of In-102 has been investigated by in-beam gamma-spectroscopic methods. Knowledge on the excited states of this nucleus has significantly been extended. Three cascades of transitions were observed to exceed the spin-energy domain spanned by the pig(9/2)(-1)v(d(5/2),g(7/2))(3) configurations. The new high spin states at similar to 4 MeV excitation energy could be assigned to the pig(9/2)(-1)v(d(5/2), g(7/2))(2)h (11/2) configuration, while at least those at 4.733, 5.192 and 5.853 MeV most likely arise from the vg(9/2) --> vd(5/2), g(7/2) one-particle-one-hole excitation across the N = 50 shell closure.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- The neutron deficient nucleus Te-108 was studied in the Fe-54(Ni-58,2p2n) reaction. A detector system consisting of 4 Euroball cluster detectors, a charged-particle detector ball and a 16 element neutron multiplicity filter was used to detect the emitted particles and gamma rays. A new, significantly extended level scheme was constructed on the basis of gamma gamma-coincidence relations. Spin values for the states were determined from angular distribution ratios. The experimental results are discussed in terms of the shell model.

Nuclear structure studies of F-24

Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 92:1
-
Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- The structure of the F-24 nucleus has been studied at GANIL using the beta decay of O-24 and the in-beam.-ray spectroscopy from the fragmentation of Na-27,Na-28, Ne-25,Ne-26, and Mg-29,Mg-30 nuclei. Combining these complementary experimental techniques, the level scheme of F-24 has been constructed up to 3.6 MeV by means of particle-gamma and particle-gamma gamma coincidence relations. Experimental results are compared to shell-model calculations using the standard USDA and USDB interactions as well as ab initio valence-space Hamiltonians calculated from the in-medium similarity renormalization group based on chiral two- and three-nucleon forces. Both methods reproduce the measured level spacings well, and this close agreement allows unidentified spins and parities to be consistently assigned.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- A spectroscopic study of Sb-108 has been carried out as a part of a larger experiment where in total twenty-nine different residual nuclei were identified. This study gives the first information on excited levels in this nucleus. A low-lying two-quasi-particle multiplet together with some of the higher lying levels are discussed within the framework of the nuclear shell model. A rotational, strongly coupled, band is identified as, most likely, being built on the deformed pig9/2(-1) nuh11/2 configuration in accordance with total routhian surface calculations. Tentative spins and parities are presented as well as B(M1)/B(E2) ratios for some of the transitions in the strongly coupled band.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- The neutron-deficient nucleus Te-110 has been investigated by in-beam spectroscopic methods using the NORDBALL multi-detector array. Except for the energy of one level observed in alpha-decay, excited states in Te-110 were previously unknown. The level scheme constructed from gamma gamma-coincidence relationships is presented with tentative spin assignments up to I-pi = 21(-). Above spin 8(+) the yrast states have negative parity. They are most likely the members of a band predominantly based on the nu(h(11/2)g(7/2)) two-quasiparticle configuration. A band crossing is observed at I-pi approximate to 17(-). It is suggested to be caused by the alignment of two h(11/2) neutrons. The cranked shell model correctly predicts the spin alignment, but fails to reproduce the observed band crossing frequency, possibly because of octupole effects.

HIGH-SPIN STUDIES NEAR SN-100 WITH NORDBALL - NEW RESULTS ON IN-102, IN-104 AND SB-108
- 1993
-
Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- The NORDBALL detector array has been used in a gamma-ray spectroscopic study of neutron deficient nuclei close to 100Sn. A beam of 270 MeV 58Ni ions was used to bombard a target of Fe-54. Reaction channel separation was achieved with a 4pi charged particle Si-ball together with a 1pi neutron detector wall. Altogether 29 final nuclei were identified and excited states were observed for the first time in 8 of them. The weakest identified channel was 100Cd which represented 4.10(-3) % of the observed total yield. Level schemes Of 102In, 104In and 108Sb constructed from gamma-gamma-particle-coincidence and gamma-gamma-angular correlation analyses are presented. The observed structures are discussed in the framework of the nuclear shell-model. In 108Sb also a deformed, strongly coupled, level sequence is observed. This deformed structure is interpreted as built on a pig9/2(-1)xnuh11/2 configuration in agreement with TRS calculations.
