  • Phonon spectra of pure and acceptor doped BaZrO3 investigated with visible and UV Raman spectroscopy
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics Condensed Matter. - 0953-8984 .- 1361-648X. ; 32:40
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report results from visible and UV Raman spectroscopy studies of the phonon spectra of a polycrystalline sample of the prototypical perovskite type oxide BaZrO3 and a 500 nm thick film of its Y-doped, proton conducting, counterpart BaZr0.8Y0.2O2.9. Analysis of the Raman spectra measured using different excitation energies (between 3.44 eV and 5.17 eV) reveals the activation of strong resonance Raman effects involving all lattice vibrational modes. Specifically, two characteristic energies were identified for BaZrO3, one around 5 eV and one at higher energy, respectively, and one for BaZr0.8Y0.2O2.9, above 5 eV. Apart from the large difference in spectral intensity between the non-resonant and resonant conditions, the spectra are overall similar to each other, suggesting that the vibrational spectra of the perovskites are stable when investigated using an UV laser as excitation source. These results encourage further use of UV Raman spectroscopy as a novel approach for the study of lattice vibrational dynamics and local structure in proton conducting perovskites, and open up for, e.g., time-resolved experiments on thin films targeted at understanding the role of lattice vibrations in proton transport in these kinds of materials.

  • An IPA based method for PSS design concept assessment
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Procedia CIRP. - : Elsevier. - 2212-8271. ; , s. 277-282
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Literature and field study research highlight that transiting toward PSS means for many companies to either miss interesting business opportunities or to bet on the wrong solution concept. Early stage assessment activities play a crucial role in this respect, guiding the selection of a value-adding PSS while preventing commitment of resources on poor design alternatives. Emerging from empirical studies in the manufacturing industry, the paper highlights the need for systematic procedures, tools and metrics able to encompass customer satisfaction together with the producer’s value perspective in such assessment. The paper proposes a 2 step assessment method based on the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) matrix enabling the integration of customer and provider value and supporting early stage PSS design decision making. Verification activities highlight the positive implications of balancing the trade-off between customer and provider value during the PSS assessment phase.

  • Phosphorylation of PDE3B by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase associated with the insulin receptor
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Journal of Biological Chemistry. - 1083-351X. ; 275:14, s. 10093-10098
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase mediates several actions of insulin including its antilipolytic effect. This effect is elicited by the insulin-stimulated serine phosphorylation and activation of cGMP-inhibited phosphodiesterase (PDE3B). In human adipocytes, we found that insulin differentially stimulated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase activity; the lipid kinase activity was associated with IRS-1, whereas the serine kinase activity was associated with the insulin receptor and phosphorylated a number of proteins including p85, p110, and a 135-kDa protein identified as PDE3B. PDE3B phosphorylation was associated with enzyme activation, thus initiating the antilipolytic effect of insulin. These results show a novel pathway for intracellular signaling through the insulin receptor leading to the serine phosphorylation of key proteins involved in insulin action.

  • Architecture and Compensation : Renewal and Expansion of the City Library in Gothenburg
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Compensation in Architecture and Archaeology – On Compensation as a Project, Method and Professional Practice. - 9789198391138 ; , s. 52-82
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The paper deals with renewal and preservation in a combined architectural and detailed development planning project, including cultural values and architectural qualities. The focus is on how compensatory actions, cultural values and architectural qualities are expressed in the expansion of the City Library in Gothenburg. In this case, the detailed development plan regulates both land use and architectural design. The transformation of the City Library occurred in an area with heritage values of national interest. The objective is to investigate, analyse and discuss compensation in architecture and planning processes. The specific goal is to produce knowledge on how key players practise compensation and understand heritage values and architectural qualities. The research is based on a single case study. From a selection of 39 contemporary, detailed development plans obtained from the City Planning Office in Gothenburg, one plan has been chosen for investigation in this paper. The motive behind this selection is that the expansion provides both an interesting background to quality issues and raises important questions concerning the renewal of a public building at a site of great value for citizens. Key documents in the case study have been analysed through close reading. Knowledge has also been developed through analyses of drawings, illustrations, site visits and discussions at seminars. The detailed development plan can be understood both as a product and a process. Seen as a product, compensatory measures are embedded in the plan as fixed regulations to support renewal as well as to safeguard values and architectural qualities. These regulations concern both land use and architectural design. Compensatory thinking as part of the planning process is expressed through changes based on comments from key actors, starting with the design of the expansion of the library, and is continued in the transformation to make the renewal possible through the detailed development plan.
