  • Comparison between Simulation and Analytical Methods in Reliability Data Analysis : A Case Study on Face Drilling Rigs
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Data. - Switzerland : MDPI. - 2306-5729. ; 3:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Collecting the failure data and reliability analysis in an underground mining operation is challenging due to the harsh environment and high level of production pressure. Therefore, achieving an accurate, fast, and applicable analysis in a fleet of underground equipment is usually difficult and time consuming. This paper aims to discuss the main reliability analysis challenges in mining machinery by comparing three main approaches: two analytical methods (white-box and black-box modeling), and a simulation approach. For this purpose, the maintenance data from a fleet of face drilling rigs in a Swedish underground metal mine were extracted by the MAXIMO system over a period of two years and were applied for analysis. The investigations reveal that the performance of these approaches in ranking and the reliability of the studies of the machines is different. However, all mentioned methods provide similar outputs but, in general, the simulation estimates the reliability of the studied machines at a higher level. The simulation and white-box method sometimes provide exactly the same results, which are caused by their similar structure of analysis. On average, 9% of the data are missed in the white-box analysis due to a lack of sufficient data in some of the subsystems of the studies’ rigs.

  • Daily time management and influences of environmental factors on use of electronic planning devices in adults with mental disability
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Disability and Rehabilitation. - Informa healthcare : Informa UK Limited. - 1748-3107 .- 1748-3115. ; 10:5, s. 371-377
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose:  To describe daily time management in adults with and without mental disability and to examine differences in the level of their daily time management; to describe the possessions and use of electronic planning devices (EPDs) in activities and how environmental factors influence the use of EPDs in adults with mental disability. Methods: In a descriptive and cross-sectional design 32 participants using EPDs and a matched comparison group of 32 healthy adults was recruited. Time-Self rating scale measuring daily time management was adapted for adults. A study specific questionnaire was applied to collect data on five ICF environmental factors. Rasch modelling, descriptive and non-parametric statistics were applied. Results: Time-S has acceptable psychometric properties for use on adults with mental disability. People with mental disability and low level of daily time management who use advanced EPDs are more influenced by environmental factors. The study group perceived that encouragement and support from professionals as well as services influence their use of EPDs. Conclusions: Time-S can safely be used for people with mental disability. EPDs do not fully compensate the needs of the target-group. Prescribers need to give considerations to this and therefore they should be provided with more knowledge about this matter.

  • μ+SR Study of K2Cr8O16 Under Hydrostatic Pressure
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Journal of the Physical Society of Japan. - : Physical Society of Japan. - 0031-9015 .- 1347-4073.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this study, the magnetic ground state of the hollandite type material K2Cr8O16 was tuned by externally applied pressure and investigated using µ+SR method in Zero-field (ZF) and weak-transversefield (wTF) configurations. As a result, the obtained magnetic transition temperature for the measuredpressures differs notably from magnetization measurements. Moreover, both wTF and ZF data reveala transition between two different magnetically ordered states at low temperatures for higher pressures. Further theoretical and experimental studies are currently being planned in order to elucidatethe detailed nature of the magnetically ordered phase.

  • Study of selective isotropic etching Si1−xGex in process of nanowire transistors
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of materials science. Materials in electronics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0957-4522 .- 1573-482X. ; 31:1, s. 134-143
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • On approach towards the end of technology roadmap, a revolutionary approach towards the nanowire transistors is favorable due to the full control of carrier transport. The transistor design moves toward vertically or laterally stacked Gate-All-Around (GAA) where Si or SiGe can be used as channel material. This study presents a novel isotropic inductively coupled plasma (ICP) dry etching of Si1−xGex (0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.28) in SiGe/Si multilayer structures (MLSs) with high selectivity to Si, SiO2, Si3N4 and SiON which can be applied in advanced 3D transistors and Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) in future. The profile of SiGe etching for different thicknesses, compositions and locations in MLSs using dry or wet etch have been studied. A special care has been spent for layer quality of Si, strain relaxation of SiGe layers as well as residual contamination during the etching. In difference with dry etching methods (downstream remote plasma), the conventional ICP source in situ is used where CF4/O2/He gas mixture was used as the etching gas to obtain higher selectivity. Based on the reliability of ICP technique a range of etching rate 25–50 nm/min can be obtained for accurate isotropic etching of Si1−xGex, to form cavity in advanced 3D transistor processes in future.

  • Pressure driven magnetic order in Sr 1 - x Ca x Co 2 P 2
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Scientific Reports. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2045-2322 .- 2045-2322. ; 12:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The magnetic phase diagram of Sr1-xCaxCo2P2 as a function of hydrostatic pressure and temperature is investigated by means of high pressure muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (μ+SR). The weak pressure dependence for the x≠ 1 compounds suggests that the rich phase diagram of Sr1-xCaxCo2P2 as a function of x at ambient pressure may not solely be attributed to chemical pressure effects. The x= 1 compound on the other hand reveals a high pressure dependence, where the long range magnetic order is fully suppressed at pc 2≈ 9.8 kbar, which seem to be a first order transition. In addition, an intermediate phase consisting of magnetic domains is formed above pc 1≈ 8 kbar where they co-exist with a magnetically disordered state. These domains are likely to be ferromagnetic islands (FMI) and consist of an high- (FMI-1) and low-temperature (FMI-2) region, respectively, separated by a phase boundary at Ti≈ 20 K. This kind of co-existence is unusual and is originating from a coupling between lattice and magnetic degrees of freedoms.

  • Optimal relay placement in two-hop RF energy transfer
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Communications. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 0090-6778 .- 1558-0857. ; 63:5, s. 1635-1647
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recently, wireless radio frequency energy transfer (RFET) has emerged as an effective technology for prolonging lifetime of the energy-limited wireless sensor networks. However, low RFET efficiency is still a fundamental bottleneck in its widespread usage. Multi-hop RF energy transfer (MHET) can improve the RFET efficiency by deploying relay nodes that scavenge the dispersed energy and transfer it to the nearby sensor node. The efficiency of MHET is strongly influenced by the relay node’s placement. To maximize the RFET efficiency for a two-hop scenario, in this paper a novel optimization model is proposed to determine the optimal relay placement (ORP) on an Euclidean x-y plane. Nontrivial tradeoff between the energy scavenged at the relay versus the effective energy delivered by the relay to the target node is investigated. Due to the nonconvex and highly nonlinear nature of the optimization problem, an α-based branch and bound algorithm has been used. The proposed optimization model is further extended by incorporating distributed beamforming to enhance the RFET efficiency. Numerical results illustrate that the proposed algorithm provides convergence to the ∈-global optimal solution in a few iterations, and ORP provides significant energy saving over arbitrary relay positions for commercial RF energy harvesting systems.
