- The purpose of the work is to further develop and validate the optical emission method pulse distribution analysis (PDA) for rapid inclusion characterisation in steel production. The experimental work was focused on investigation of several operational parameters: spark energy, spark frequency and time gating of signal acquisition. The results showed that a low spark energy improves the detection limit, but at the expense of measuring statistics due to a smaller sample volume. The measuring frequency proved to have no significant influence on the analytical results, but several existing instruments cannot handle the highest spark frequencies above about 300 Hz in PDA mode due to limitations in the electronics. Investigation of time gating (TRS) gave only a marginal improvement in the detection limit of Si outliers above the metallic content. The work also revealed that there is a risk to detect "false" outliers due to asymmetric intensity distributions. This has resulted in the development of more advanced algorithms for outlier detection, increasing the accuracy of the method. Another limitation found is that the particle number density must not exceed about 10 000 inclusions/mm3 for the method to effectively detect single inclusions. A method to overcome this limitation has been suggested, but not yet evaluated. The accuracy of quantitative determination of the Al content in inclusions has been verified by reference methods. In conclusion, it has been demonstrated that state-of-the-art PDA is a very powerful technique for rapid inclusion characterisation in steels. Furthermore, the speed of analysis is sufficiently high for process feedback and controllable.

- When I got the commission from the Taiwan World Percussion Competition to write a set piece for their first round, I began to think about the development of the marimba repertoire over the past 30 years. Composers like Peter Klatzow, Anna Ignatowicz, Jacob Druckman, Joseph Schwantner and Alejandro Viñao have all helped to further improve the quality of the marimba repertoire and placed the instrument in the exclusive room of classical music. Since 2010, when I published my first work at Edition Svitzer - Blue Memories and Stella Polaris, I have had a close contact to artist Bengt Berglund. Sometimes he has created new works directly for my music, like Timbres and Fantasia & Toccata, and sometimes I have used his older works from the 60s and 70s. Last year, when I wrote Mistral for Michael Burritt, a green painting from Bengt was the perfect cover. From the same series, Bengt got another one with fiery colors… The inspiration for Yán jiāng comes from the art by Bengt Berglund and from great composers I admire.

- The purpose of this study is to introduce Taiwanese last curriculum standards and the development of authentic assessment to investigate 9th-graders’ scientific literacy in Taiwan. From this study, it was revealed that authentic assessment provided another possibility to evaluate students’ scientific cognition better than the traditional achievement tests. Besides, the hands-on activity developed by this study offered an opportunity to make students enjoy the examination more and showed a higher consistency with lower-achievement students’ performance on the national entrance exam. The discussion and implementation are presented.

This essay introduces the development of indigenous-related research at Umeå University with a focus on the research from Várdduo in the past 20 years. Today Várdduo serves as a hub for active expansion of research related to Indigenous issues at Umeå university to local, national and international arenas. Indigenous research at Umeå University/Várdduo, although still mainly on Sámi issues, has experienced a development characterized by fast growth, diversity, interdisciplinarity and increasing international commitment

- Seafood samples were collected from Dalian, China to study the accumulation and distribution characteristics of short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) by GC/ECNI-LRMS. Sum of SCCPs (dry weight) were in the range of 77-8 250 ng.g-1, with the lowest value in Scapharca subcrenata and highest concentration in Neptunea cumingi. The concentrations of sum of SCCPs (dry weight) in fish, shrimp/crab and shellfish were in the ranges of 100-3 510, 394-5 440, and 77-8 250 ng.g-1 , respectively. Overall, the C10 and C11 homologues were the most predominant carbon groups of SCCPs in seafood from this area,and a relatively higher proportion of C12-13 was observed in seafood with higher concentrations of sum of SCCPs . With regard to chlorine content, Cl1,, CI8 and CI6 were the major groups. Significant correlations were found among concentrations of different SCCP homologues (except C1, vs. Cl10 ) , which indicated that they might share the same sources and/or have similar accumulation, migration and transformation processes.

- The original purpose of this research was to develop a method for fast, simultaneous analysis of both the steel and slag content of heterogeneous metallurgical samples for process control. The method is based on Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS). The reason for choosing LIBS is that it can be employed for both conductive and non-conductive materials, and is relatively insensitive to sample shape and surface finish. The heterogeneous samples produced contain large numbers of sub-millimetre slag particles that cannot be completely separated from the surrounding steel in a LIBS analysis. A method has therefore been developed to perform a line scan analysis with approximately 0.5 mm resolution and 10 mm length along the sample. The laser pulse rate is 20 Hz and the scan speed is 1 mm/s. Slag particles appear in the line scan as "polluted areas" of the steel with very high concentrations of e. g. Ca, Al and Si. A mathematical model was developed to evaluate the data in steps, based on a single calibration. Firstly, "clean steel" areas are identified and the steel composition determined. In the second step, the average composition across the entire length of the scan is determined. In the final step, the average slag composition is determined by means of a difference calculation. The method was tested on several samples from the development of the heterogeneous sampler. It was found that the elements C, Si, Mn, P, S and Al can be determined in the steel with an RSD of a few percent. In the slag, the RSD's are higher, around10% for several important elements. It is expected that the method can be further developed for rapid analysis of smaller non-metallic inclusions.

- Proton exchange waveguides in MgO:LiNbO.3 and LiNbO.3 crystals were fabricated , and the diffusion coefficients for the proton exchange process are obtained. The evolution characteristics of the waveguide index profile in the annealing process are studied. The structural deformation of the proton exchange waveguides in Mg O:LiNbO.3 and LiNbO.3 and the restoration effect of annealing are also studied tho roughly by the x-ray diffraction method and the OH-infrared absorption method. The optical and structural characteristics of annealed proton exchange waveguides in MgO:LiNbO.3 and LiNbO.3 are analysed and compared with eath other.

- In recent years, lengmo has emerged as a popular and controversial subject in Hong Kong society. Literally meaning naïve young model, lengmo is a relatively new occupation that allows young women who lack the figure of professional models to enter the entertainment industry. These young women, mostly in sexy appearance, become a social phenomenon propelled by local print media. This paper analyzes how Hong Kong print media characterize lengmo by endorsing them as sexualized subjects. These characterizations imply the discourse of sexualizing female bodies. Although seemingly pushing the expression of female sexuality into social spaces, they do not liberate women in pursuit of sexual autonomy. Such implication entails the patriarchal ideology in which the operation of local print media is grounded.

- The propagation properties of evanescent waves in a multi-layered structure containing materials with negative refractive index are analyzed. The decay or magnification of the amplitude of evanescent waves in different situations is explained analytically in detail. In particular, the influence of the dissipation of the negative refractive index medium on the photon tunneling effect is discussed. The propagation and energy storage of evanescent waves are shown clearly by using the incidence of a Gauss beam.

- Applying a genetic algorithm and taking the maximum output as an objective funct ion, a copper vapor laser with about 100W output is optimized and designed for reducing the “black center” of the radial laser intensity. - A novel composite material based on mixture of samarium-doped ceria (SDC)-carbonate was studied as electrolyte in low temperature solid oxide fuel cells. The phase and microstructures of composite electrolyte were examined by XRD and SEM. The electrical conductivity was investigated by AC impedance spectroscopy at 400-700 degrees C in different atmospheres. An abrupt change in the conductivity at about 500 degrees C indicates that different mechanisms affect transfer in different temperature ranges. The conductivity increases with the carbonate fraction above 500 degrees C. The conductivity in reduce atmosphere is higher than that in oxide atmosphere. An anode-supported fuel cell using SDC-carbonate as electrolyte was fabricated and tested. The result shows that all the composite electrolytes exhibit better performance than pure SDC electrolyte. The electrolyte with 20wt% carbonate can achieve the highest power density of 415mW center dot cm(-2) and an open circuit voltage of 1.00V at 500 degrees C.

- 本研究以2006至2014年间新闻媒体公开披露的69部国内电视剧的95条交易记录为例,采用内容分析法,通过相关分析与建构结构方程模型，探究市场因素与电视剧版权价格间的关系，以及显著相关的市场因素对电视剧版权价格的影响机制。研究发现，在根据文献所梳理的诸多市场因素中，"授权平台"、"播出方式"、"权利性质"、"电视剧年产量"等因素与电视剧版权价格具有一定的相关性；影响效果由高到低的路径分别为：授权平台→版权价格、电视剧年产量→版权价格，且均为直接效应主导。

- On the basis of the theory of teaching objectives and the practice of mathematics teaching objectives formulating, we established a framework for analyzing mathematical teaching objectives. Based on this analytical framework, we analyzed the teaching mathematics objectives that formulated by junior school mathematics teachers from the whole structure and the specific formulations, and found some problems about formulations of mathematics teaching objectives. Finally we introduced the basic process and gave some examples about improving the quality of mathematics teqaching objectives.

- mechanical preparation of the nano-sized particles of TiO2 powder by a stirred bead mill was investigated. The particle sizes of the ground products were determined by the acoustic particle sizer, the nitrogen gas adsorption method and a scanning electron microscopy. The diameter of the nano-sized particles, which were obtained after milling for 7 h, is about 50 nm and the specific surface area is up to 70 m2/g. The surface and structure of the samples have been investigated with X-ray diffraction. It is indicated that an intense comminution in the mill leads to a progressive loss in crystallinity of TiO2. The catalytic degradation of methyl orange in water was also studied by a photometer. The results show that the nano-sized particles of TiO2 powder prepared by milling possess photocatalysis effect and are capable of absorption of ultraviolet radiation
