  • Method of Indirection : talking to Walter Benjamin through the Arcades Project
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Legacy. - Amsterdam : Frame Publishers. - 9789492311306 ; , s. 234-239
  • Bokkapitel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • I’ve wanted to talk to Walter Benjamin ever since encountering his Arcades Project. But – as much as that desire may be attune with Benjamin’s own commitment to bringing the past forth to the present – I can’t. I therefore turn to Arcades translator, and Benjamin scholar, Howard Eiland... and, it was inevitable that I had to return to the Arcades, not just because Benjamin meticulously objectified the glass and iron arcades as method and catalyst of research, but because, to me, ‘greenhouse’ does precede, and succeed, the arcades themselves as display and index of what was, and is to become of ‘natural history.’ For 'Legacy' I share excerpts of an interview (soon to be published entirely) that started at the Harvard Co-op in 2016; a conversation that continues to this day, by way of intermittent emails and other correspondence.

  • Giving in free movement Europe
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Eurozine. - 1684-4637.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • The informal politics of distribution on the streets, of begging and of giving, makes visible the faults inherent in European welfare systems, writes Cecilia Parsberg. And the rules and statutes that aim to prevent poverty-stricken EU citizens from enjoying free movement add insult to injury.

  • Expression of BCR-ABL1 oncogene relative to ABL1 gene changes overtime in chronic myeloid leukemia
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications - BBRC. - : Elsevier BV. - 0006-291X .- 1090-2104. ; 366:3, s. 848-851
  • Tidskriftsartikel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Using a quantitative single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) assay we have investigated the changes in the expression of the BCR-ABL1 oncogene relative to the wild-type ABL1 and BCR alleles in cells from chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients not responding to therapy. The results show a progressive increase in the BCR-ABL1 oncogene expression at the expense of decreased expression of the ABL1 allele, not involved in the fusion. No relative changes in the expression of the two BCR alleles were found. These results demonstrate that allele-specific charities in gene expression, with selective, progressive silencing of the wild-type A BL1 allele in favor of the oncogenic BCR-ABL1 allele occur in CML patients with therapy-resistant disease.

  • Breathtaking greenhouse parastructures
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Agropoetics reader. - Berlin : The Institute for Endotic Research. - 9783981951264 ; , s. 181-199
  • Bokkapitel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • This is an early draft excerpt from the "convolutes" included in the author's later PhD titled "Breathtaking Greenhouse Parastructures." The work is related to the author's exhibition at Savvy Contemporary in Berlin (31.08.– 06.10.2019). The focus of the research is on exploring the technology of the greenhouse as a specimen, display, and virtual reality. The author believes that the greenhouse plays a significant role in shaping the industrial, misogynist, and ethnocentric conception of natural science and history. The greenhouse acts as a dividing force between humans and nature, perpetuating the illusion of interior and exterior spaces. The author aims to break free from this binary understanding by reticulating away from the messianic promises and colonial violence associated with "greenhouse." They seek to uproot the colonial drive embedded in their externalization of knowledge and explore alternative paths for relating to the object of colonial-industrial capitalism. The presented excerpt offers a glimpse into the author's perspective as a Puerto Rican & Caribbean artist and invites further exploration of the PhD work.

  • Kite Aerial Photography - Hué
  • 2014
  • Bok (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • The Kite Aerial Photography - Hué project started with the intention from Mattias Ericsson and me Micael Norberg to work artistically on a jointly project with students from di erent art schools and from di erent cultures. We had an idea of building bridges both artistically and culturally. We traveled to Hué in Vietnam in order to explore new ways to collaborate and  nd new artistic meth- ods. We wanted to use kites and send our cameras up in the air to make aerial pictures. We tried to  nd a way to control events and by that also control our artistic outcome and understanding. But in the The Kite Aerial Photography project we had no control. The weather controlled our kites. The place and the language controlled what we knew and understood. What was left was to look into ourself and negate a compromise. The leftovers became documentations of an experience. And now I am looking back at those events, wondering what really happened. I am using words, trying to create an image of my memories and of my experience - hot air, smells and noise. Experi- ences I can’t communicate fully in words. You as a viewer will never feel them and I will only remember them. We will also remember di erently. Every participant have their own image ofwhat happened during those days in Hué. The feeling of being di erent, not understanding and being an outsider made us all meet ourselves in di erent ways. We believed that language would build bridges of understanding, and maybe it did. But here we are now. A long time has passed since we returned from Hué. What we have left are images and memories. I remember smells and emotions and in this state between memory and fact a tension is created. A juxtaposition of con ict- ing feelings. I look at the photographs now with a new understanding. We tried to move out of our comfort-zone looking for the unseen, the enigma, where memory and re ection becomes a liminal state. I now realize that knowledge is not fact or truth, but a state that we can call ”not knowing”. A state which for me is the very basic for understanding, and by that becoming the very essence of art.

  • 2012
  • Bok (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • “The Animation Manual” started off with the idea of trying to tie together our own art practice with a workshop in animation. We travelled to Hué in Vietnam to work together with students and teachers at Hué College of Fine Arts. By placing our self in a different cultural context and collecting material that could become a base of a manual we wanted to explore the process and document the experiences we encountered in this meeting.

  • D3 Housing Tomorrow Competition : Woolopolis
  • 2013
  • Annan publikation (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • New Zealand’s Manawatu district is a fertile agricultural region in the lower North Island. One of the traditional centres of New Zealand’s wool production, sheep population, and vernacular culture, the Manawatu is now characterised by colossal windfarms and bleeding-edge agricultural science, a situation that demands new architectures catering to a rapidly changing landscape. Our project, Woolopolis, aims to consolidate the various functions and programs of New Zealand’s wool production into one dynamic community. Woolopolis takes the form of a complex network of programs - processing facilities at ground level, housing units lofted above, with the market functioning as the communal centre of the complex and mediating between the two.

  • Woolopolis : International Competition Winner
  • 2012
  • Annan publikation (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Our project, Woolopolis, aims to consolidate the various functions and programs of New Zealand’s wool production into one dynamic community. Traditionally the programs associated with New Zealand’s wool economy - pasture, housing, shearing, production facilities and markets have been separated by both geography and context. This separation is no longer effective in a globalised world, so we turn to cohesion as a means of improving performance. Thus, Woolopolis takes the form of a complex network of programs - processing facilties at ground level, housing units lofted above, with the market functioning as the communal centre of the complex and mediating between the two. The architecture functions as a machine in which sheep can be fed, shorn, the wool processed and sold, all the while housing a diverse community of farm and factory workers, shearing hands, agricultural scientists, designers and investors integral to the wool economy.Housing units in the complex are adjusted for optimal living conditions - north facing to make the most of daylight hours, and turned against predominantly westerly winds. The whole complex functions as a singular machine - solar panels on the housing units help to power production facilities, rainwater catchment areas release the architecture from dependence on the existing grid and help to mediate the considerable water-usage associated with agriculture. The entire complex is lofted above the ground to make storage space for hay during harsh winters.Woolopolis is New Zealand’s traditional rural vernacular at hyperspeed - archetypal building forms, rugged local materials, constructed by local contractors and future dwellers. Woolopolis grows without the help of architects, and as it expands it does so on the condition and pace of the local context. Consolidating all functions of the wool production process into a singular eco-friendly complex, Woolopolis is a sustainable response to the motto, ‘think global, act local’.
