Authenticity in Practice

• This book studies and discusses questions concerning authenticity, staging and public communication at eight World Heritage classified rock art sites from different parts of the world. Is is an empirically grounded comparative analysis of how the content of the concept of authenticity is materialized and put into practice at the sites studied. This book demonstrates how this materialization influences the public´s physical and imaginative access to the rock art as well as to the past. The authors also present a renewed attitude towards the concept of authenticity which they consider to be crucial for a constructive future relationship between heritage management and the public.
