Introduction: Security and the environment - The link

• The environmental changes and scarcities interrelate with the perceptions of and strategies for maintaining (human) security on micro - as well as macro level. This introductory chapter presents a review of how the alternative security debate is relating to environmental issues, and, which type of environmental scarcities that is predominant in this process. The chapter also in the end reviews how the contributions of this handbook are structured to understand the overall problematique.
