• HIV/AIDS is the major political challenge of our time. For more than two decades various initiatives have been implemented in an attempt to respond to the disease - by governments, research communities, transnational corporations and in the context of civil society. The politics of HIV/AIDS has become increasingly transnational, as nation states in the global North have extended their programmes across borders, and transnational networks composed of international bodies, NGOs, social movements and private foundations have increased their activities. This book argues that the politics of AIDS must be understood as part of contemporary globalization.
