  • This article presents a study of how the use of around 40 different attenuation markers develops among five Swedish learners of Spanish during a four-month stay in Spain. The material was extracted from a corpus of semi-spontaneous discussions and simulated negotiations between native speakers of Spanish and Swedish learners. The results reveal a moderate increase of attenuation markers between the first and second recordings in three of the five speakers.
