- Introduction: Occupational Therapy (OT) groups might promote occupational performance and well-being for older adults in need of psycho-social support. Aim: To study benefits of the OT intervention programs - SLife Balance - (LB) groups and - SCulture Empowerment - (CE) groups for older adults living within the community feeling dejection or dissatisfaction in their daily occupations. Method: Intervention group LB lasting for 21 weeks including 3-5 home visits was compared to the 12 weeks CE group for older adults (n=60, mean age 73). The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, Beck Depression Inventory II and WHO Quality of Life-BREF were used for the pre, post and one year follow-up measures. Results: Both groups showed effect in post measures in occupational performance and satisfaction, psychological and social dimensions of quality of life and decreasing dejection. There were no differences between groups. Conclusion: Older adults with dejection or dissatisfaction in daily occupations benefit from the OT intervention group.
