En ny generation lärostycken : Frågor till de införstådda

• This dissertation proceeds from the learning play as a historical idea about a theatre produced in relation to a political movement. Through the participation in the collective creation of two theatre performances, Violence & Learning and Corpus & Punishment, it takes part in the learning about societal phenomena in an attempt to answer the question: How can I participate in the creation of a new generation of learning plays? One of the starting points is a critical approach to views that the audience is passive and needs to be activated, or uninformed and needs to be informed. Another starting point is a view of art as something that constitutes a part of human learning, even when learning is not a defined goal. As possible answers to the question the thesis presents, through reflections in and on the work process, specific artistic understandings and results that can be scrutinised and tried out by others. The two performances, as well as experiences in working with them, are presented as examples of ways to think, act, meet and learn through theatre. The dissertation contributes substantive examples and a description of work methods that are problematised and applied in practice. As a summary of experiences from the dissertation project and an attempt to point out a possible direction for future attempts, five principles for a new generation of learning plays are presented. The scripts presented in the final part constitute both documentation of the two performances and manuals to work with them.

• Avhandlingen utgår från lärostycket som en historisk idé om en teater som produceras i förhållande till en politisk rörelse. Genom deltagande i det kollektiva skapandet av två teaterföreställningar, Våld & pedagogik och Kropp & straff, blir avhandlingsarbetet en del av lärandet i två samhälleliga fenomen, med syfte att svara på frågan: Hur kan jag delta i skapandet av en ny generation lärostycken? En utgångspunkt är en kritik av synsätt där teaterpublik ses som passiv och behöver aktiveras, eller okunnig och behöver upplysas. En annan utgångspunkt är att konst utgör en del av mänskligt lärande, även när inte lärandet är ett definierat mål. Som möjliga svar på frågan presenteras, genom reflektioner i och över arbetsprocessen, specifika konstnärliga kunskaper och resultat som kan undersökas och prövas av andra. De två föreställningarna, och erfarenheter från arbetet med dem, presenteras som exempel på sätt att tänka, agera, mötas och lära genom teater. Avhandlingsarbetet bidrar med konkreta exempel och beskrivningar av arbetsmetoder som appliceras och problematiseras i praktiskt arbete. Som en sammanfattning av lärdomar i avhandlingsarbetet och ett försök att peka ut en riktning framåt, presenteras fem principer för en ny generation lärostycken. Manusen som finns i avhandlingens avslutande del utgör både dokumentation av de två föreställningarna och manualer för att arbeta med dem.
