Discontent and the Rise of Psychology as a Profession

• The current professional practice of psychologists in contemporary Sweden is analyzed in terms of a re-professionalization process occurring from the late 1960's. The expansive cognitive and interpretive claims-making developed by the professional organization of Swedish psychologists is critically assessed and discussed, especially as concerns psychologists' role in society and claims to expertise related to a number of perceived social problems.
